I'll try if you will

hey fall, please don't take my forced smile and phony enthusiasm too personally. I'll come around. eventually. I really will. once the trees start in with all the glowing and the leaves do that thing where they float and dance around in the air and crunch under foot, I'll soften. when I've baked my first real loaf of banana bread and cooked up my first pot of butternut squash soup, I'll feel better about you. I promise.

a new pair of boots wouldn't hurt your case. and if you really want to seal the deal, throw in a couple pairs of new tights. that might do it. because you were made for tights and boots. and sweaters. oh, sweaters. it's all that crisp air, you know. you're sort of famous for that.

so I think I'm starting to warm up to the idea of you. just don't be so stingy with the sunshine. all bets are off when you start messing with the sun.

p.s. you smell good. I'll give you that.

  6. you are TOO cute, woman. fall does smell mighty fine...that's for SURE! i think if fall/winter did it's grey rain thing at night...and gave us crisp/sun during the day that would be a good deal. a day here and there of rain...okay...but don't make it a habit.

  7. i always thought i loved summer best, but now it is definitely fall. i guess it depends on where you live. i have come to love fall in switzerland that i ache inside to think about leaving next year, and missing fall here. fall in texas will be what? summer? and ironically, the whole time i lived here i have longed for texas summers, since summer has not existed here. fall is hot chocolate, profound smells and the added bliss of college football, cooking with squash and searching for perfect hoodies. enjoy!

  11. oh my gosh andrea. we are the same person. i swear i posted almost the same thing on my blog yesterday. summer girls need to stick together in being passive aggressive about fall.

  12. I was just thinking yesterday that I miss Fall. I've lived in South Florida for about 3 years now and this is the first year that I really miss the changing seasons.

I did buy a pumpkin over the weekend and I think I'll get some mums too. The colors of Fall are my favorites.

Have a great week. I agree with Ms. Walters... bright tights unite!

    xo,

    Carmen

But when I see the New England maples changing, the piles of pumpkins at roadside stands and the sales on Fall BOOTS, I feel a little better. Let's Go With The Flow ! But you ain't kinding about the sun stuff !

  17. It'll really start lookin' pretty in a couple of weeks. Course then the rain starts but the glimmer of hope there is that usually in Feb. we'll get a week of sun.

  18. I'm right there with you! Although I think I'm ready for the cooler fall days. We're really warm out here, and it sorta has me discombobulated...it's so sunny and hot, and the sky is hazy every day, yet the leaves are changing and falling. I'm confused as to what to wear, how to feel, where my mindset should be right now... :)

  19. this is exactly how I feel... though I am still in the denial phase.
    Boots do make everything better.
